Monopoly had a 9/10 and pocketquake had a 6/10? Why is everyone so hard on it?

Probably because you can actually play Monopoly at 7-8fps. Monopoly is timeless while quake 1 is dated.
I personally love first person shooters. But Quake is an older fps, after the cool factor of actually having it on your PDA wears off and you get to gameplay - you can understand the lower scores. That doesn't stop me from showing off Quake1 to all my friends. We find it amazing because at the time of Quake1's release - we all started saving our money to buy a brand new shiny pentium 75 to upgrade our 486's - just so we could play.

Pocket Doom is ten times better... First of all it runs smoother and is has easy controls with quake i think its hard to move around and aim when you shoot.
Doom on the other hand is kinda like auto aim its fun..
So if your thinking of a good first shooter get pocket doom...

Where did you pick up your copy? I wanted it but where I looked said it was only compatible with Windows CE

From what I have learned and found out is that most windows ce programs work for pocket pc 2002, since it is based off of windows ce.

I've looked around and I found several different versions of Pocket Doom. Where can I get one that has been verified to work with the Axim? Thanks.

The one I got for the IPaq, from JimmySoftware, ran, but didn't work..
Here's what I get. I load it. Fine. Click the button for the demo WAD file, and it starts... and crashes.. Hmmmm
Then I ran DoomCe again, and chose LOAD WAD and manually loaded the doom1.wad. Now, it came up. Fast! Music!! Sound Effects!! KUAL.. Chose the first option, chose a level, and... crash... :-(
Well, at least it's just the app that dies..
Anyone else have any better luck, it looks GREAT!!!

I bought a packaged copy at CompUSA for $20.00
Installing was simple
Had some problems with it going to the right constantly, uninstalled it
May try it again - beginning to suspect the problem is the Processor auto mode - that Doom (or the Dpad & Doom) cannot cope with changing processor speeds. A constant processor speedmay solve the problem

http://www.jimmysoftware.com/Software/Doom...CE/download.asp works well, but is pretty basic with no full screen mode, download the version for iPaq (the iPaq and Axim are compatable). You do not need gx.dll, it comes preloaded on the Axim, and the one on that site is an old version.
http://home.freeuk.com/gamefreaks/pql/gfDoom.htm works well too (make sure to put your processor setting to 'normal' though before running), and is more advanced with full screen and skin support. Download the ARM version. The only downside with this version is that the launcher doesn't support the shareware wad, and you need to use the launcher to choose a skin to enter cheats or go to full screen modes. I'm gonna create a new launcher that supports the shareware wad, and make a custom skin for the Axim that lets you better use it in full screen mode.

Thanx!! gfDoom works great!!!
Haven't figured out "Full Screen Mode" or if it's there, but I'm playing DOOM!!!
And just to be specific, you can play the shareware WAD with gfDoom, just not use the Launcher.... (I was confused about that...)
Thanx!!

Can somebody tell me the "install for dummies Step-bystep guide for this gfDoom game?
I download the gfdoom for ARM and extracted the contents into a folder on my desktop (folder named gfDoom)
I download the WAD file and unzipped it into the same folder.
Now, what should I do next?
Thank you for your help!

I'll assume the WAD file you DLd was doom1.wad, the shareware WAD file..
(Mostly because I just like to assume!! And it's the one I'm using now..)
So, just launch gfDoom. (Not the Launcher program, gfDoom)
Click the Cal button to start. Choose your options..
Click the Cal button to select and start playing...
Contacts button fires.. DPad moves..
Run.. run.. pick up the Armor.. get the helmets.. move.. go.. head to the door..
Open it.. run.. Fire!! FIRE!! There's too many of them!! AAAAAEEEEEIIII!!!!!
Oh.. sorry...

I have to agree I played both Quake and Doom on my pocket pc. I found it extreamly hard to play Quake but I had really no fun with the game. I spent more time installing it then playing it. Doom on the other hand was very FUN. It was easy to pick up and play and I played the demo version (6-8 lvls roughly) for a good 1 month or 2. It is a great game.
