Installing Myst on X30?

I bought Myst 1.11a for PPC from pocketgear. I can't figure out how to install it on my X30.

The download was a single 27MB executable file called pmyst.exe. When I try to run this from my laptop (WinXP), a command prompt box pops up and disappears immediately. The titlebar reads "c:\temp\pmyst.exe", but nothing else appears in the DOS box before it disappears...

I did suspect that it might be an executable for the PPC itself, but after transferring it to built in storage and running it from there, I get the dialog box "pMyst" is not a valid Pocket PC application."

Any help appreciated - I'm new to handhelds so I'm sure it's something simple.

No luck ... after squeezing it into mydocuments (and that didn't leave much room for anything else!), I tried running and got the same message: 'pmyst.exe is not a valid Pocket PC application'. I should mention that I have installed the Flash ActiveX plugin needed for the game, but the game never even gets close to running.

Uhh I think it should probably be more than 27mb? Let me check on that one...

EDIT: Ok yeah it's the proper size. Sounds like you might have a bad installer?

Say what? I'm new to these handhelds, unfortunately ... is the installer a piece of software on the Axim? Or something else? All I got to download was a single .exe file. Anything else I should be checking? And thanks for the help, btw

The installed (.exe file) is for your PC, not PPC... Try running it froma command prompt, this will allow you to see any error message or anything without the box disapearing...

Good luck!

Well, as it turned out, the download I got from Pocketgear was not playable on the Axim. However, the developers at Mean Hamster Software (support@meanhamstersoftware.com) were able to give me an "optimised for Axim" version, which works perfectly. Quick & helpful customer service, very impressive.

The executable, incidentally, does run directly on the PPC, not as a desktop installer.
