Sure. I have removed comments and unmodified sections to conserve space. I resized the 64x64 absurd tiles to 50% in photoshop for this one:

Big Smile AngbandCe does work on all PPC's

I'm running AngbandCE on a axim 51v with VGA!! -THANKYOU SI!!! (and other guy)
it's SOOOO good. But I died at lvl19 so I'm sad now.

thing is, it's kinda hard to install.
look it up on yahoo groups for more info

first you must install the windows xp *PC* version and copy the files to you PPC.

then download and install the windowsCE *PPC* version OVER top of it.

if an error happens saying folder not found (or somthing) just create that folder in the data dir

if you want VGA (and NO NEED FOR SCROLL BARS)
you must download and install SI's patch over the angbandCE exe + add pictures to Lib->xtra->graf dir + VGAcontrol.XML in Lib->xtra
then switch your PPC to landscape mod (otherwise fatal errors will eat your rations and force you to reboot)
then in the AngbandCE "options" -> "XML control file" switch to "VGA control"
also, it must be installed on your hard drive or youll get errors at random times.
you can download the VGA patch from a link on the yahoo groups.

whew, so it works now right?

I'll look for it and post it later.

Opps. I forgot. the AngbandCE CAB file is NOT openable on a PPC but must be unziped on your computer and there will be another CAB file inside it that will work on your PPC

;P Mayhaps if someone mails me I'll try zipping up the whole thing full done out so you can skip the sh8

Glad you liked my update to AngbandCE. You shouldn't need to install the PC version at all (I certainly didn't). I think I posted full instructions somewhere in this forum for installing it (sorry it is a bit contrived!).

ToME is not going to happen I'm afraid. I did try to port it, but I could not get the lua stuff to compile.

Cheers,
Si

No ToMe?

Nnnnnnooooooooooooo!!!! :realmad:

Ah man. I'm gonna have to haul around a giant 486 laptop to play ToMe on the go. :(

I know very little about programming right now... But I plan to go to school for it.
Do you think it would be posible for a very ambitious nerd (like me) to re-write ALL the lau code in C++? or somthing to that effect?

Till then I supose Angband will have to do.

Rockin' port!! Thanks sooooo much, again.
I have to send in my pocket pc for repairs and I'm gonna spend good $$ to expedite it just so I can get AngbandCE  back asap!

Well Lua is written in C already. The issue is that WinCE is the only platform where Lua will not compile. I have found a project on sourceforge where Lua5.1 is being ported to WinCE, however ToME is built on a modified version of Lua4.0. I tried simply replacing the ToME Lua with the WinCE Lua but ran into even more problems.

I am no programmer either really, but I understand enough to hack around with someone else's code. This issue pushed things beyond my skills and the time I have available. Now if I can find out which version of ToME was the last to not require Lua then I could have a go at porting that at some point... However at the moment I'm working on one of the variants.

I have a question myself. Having beaten AngbandCE recently, I thought I'd try NetHack for a change. Now I would love to get it to look like the earlier screenshot with the Absurd tileset but I can't quite get it to work. The only place I could find the tiles for download had them as a .png, now all the places I've seen them referenced suggest it should be a .bmp. Therefore I scaled down the image and converted it, however I lose the transparency during conversion. I'm guessing that I need a specific background colour for NetHack to know it should be transparent, but I don't know what it is and therefore the tiles are somewhat spoilt by having my background colour showing instead of the terrain tile coming through. Anyone got any ideas - or perhaps a copy of a working bitmap?

Cheers,
Si

Don't worry, I've sorted it out. I needed to overlay the .png on a floodfill of the standard background tile and then convert that to a bitmap.
