Hi all,

Does anyone here play any rogue-like games on their Axim? I am especially interested in finding AngbandCE. It seems like every link to that game is dead. I already know about NetHack. Are there any others that are recommended?

I'm new to the Angband games. I downloaded it to my laptop and was having quite a bit of trouble living. :rolling:

However, it seemed fun. I would like to find the CE version myself.

What is NetHack, by the way? Do you have a link to it?

Nethack is another rogue-like game, like moria, angband, larn, omega, and of course, rogue. If you want to try some of these and others, check out:

That link just brings up what looks like the code for the game, not an executable. Is there another step to compile the code or convert it from a text file?

If you happen to have a working executable of the game, I would really appreciate it if you could email it to me.

It's not really my type of game, so I didn't actually look at the download this morning, sorry 'bout that. Have you tried the DOS version in dosbox or Pocket DOS? Or the Amiga version in Pocket UAE? Might work.

Yes, I have been able to get the dos version to work. But, since it is not really designed for the pocket pc, it is somewhat difficult to play.

Wow, nethack is still around! That game was the cause of me dropping out of college over ten years ago!

Nethack works well with VGA mode hacks, especially if you take the time to customize the font sizes in the config file.

I am installing that Angband CAB file now. Warning, the CAB is messed up. I copied it over to the device and cabinstl didn't recognize it... so I opened it up on the desktop (WinRAR opens cab files) and there was another cab file INSIDE... I extracted it, moved it to the PPC, and it is installing now...

OK, I installed it to BIS, and the shortcut the installer created did not work. Opening the exe works OK on my x50v. The text is chunky though.

Applying the Force VGA hack from Tweaks 2k2... Ooh, that's just ugly. Oh well. Back to Nethack. :)

The link at www.thangorodrim.net doesn't download the cab file. It just brings up the source code for the cab file for AngbandCE. What do I do with the source code in order to convert it to a regular cab file that I can transfer over to my X3? Is there somewhere else I can find the cab file?

Speaking of NetHack and VGA... I might also suggest looking into getting a nicer (bigger) tileset. I personally use a modified (48x48 pixel) version of the absurd tileset. Makes the game much yum-yum for the eyes.

Would you kindly post the content of your default.nh file? I've been trying to get Nethack to work with the Absurd tileset, but no success.
