Morphgear Choppy Sound Problem
I've been using Morphgear to play Gameboy Advance games on my Axim X30 312mhz. It works pretty well, but the sound is all choppy (even when set to low quality). Is there a way to adjust the settings to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Tracy Jo

The x30 may be too slow to run the sound...

That's what I'm afraid of, but I saw a couple of posts on other forums from X30 owners who claimed to have the sound working.

One of them mentioned using an overclocking program (I think), but I don't really understand how those programs work. Perhaps it would help?

I'm still hoping it's a setting issue...

Actually, gba games on my X50v has choppy sound also. I think it was a flaw in the sound emulation only. Is the game smooth tho?

It seems to be. I've been testing it on The Sims: Bustin' Out, and everything seems pretty smooth except for the sound.

I've only tested it for five minutes, though, because I have the unregistered version of Morphgear (I'm trying to decide if it's worth activating the full program).

Too bad about the sound issue...

I've noticed sound choppiness with Media Player and running other apps.

Putting the processor in full speed mode (not auto) might help. Presuming that the X30 has a processor throttle.

Thanks! Overclocking didn't completely solve the sound issue, but the game music works a lot better--much less static and choppiness. I'm curious whether overclocking for long periods of time can damage the CPU, though...

I was looking around for an answer, and I found this quote in one post:

"The 312 is a 520mhz processor underclocked via Software at 312... It's the same chip... By setting it at 520 the only thing you change is the clock speed, not the voltage or anything, and 520mhz IS in the specifications of the PXA270."

A couple of other posts made this same claim. Does anybody know if this is true? Why would Dell choose to underclock a 520 processor to 312? Just to create a "Mid" speed model? If so, it seems like a pretty odd method...

Best,
Tracy Jo

Marat of the Spicy Pixel (Morphgear) Team has addressed this problem already. He knows there is something wrong with the sound core of the GBA module of Morphgear and has recently made an update to it. There is no longer a choppy/static/or poping sounds coming from the GBA emulation anymore of morphgear. This new update is not out yet and may not come out until the summer, it's entirley up to Marat to release it.

I'm glad to hear there will be a fix in the near future. I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks for the info.

Best,
Tracy Jo
