Tomb raider prob

Ive just got tomb raider from handango but during install it says "cant retrieve serial no from device" and aborts.

Has anyone else got this game and had similar probs?

Ive contacted eidos customer services also hoping for some help but would like to know if anyone else has this game or knows a way to get the serial number to be sent.

Search these boards for "tomb raider" or just look at the threads below under similar threads. It seems that its only compatible with the IPAQ

I had tomb raider working on my Axim but I didnt like it very much.

I have exactly the same problem and would like to know how other have achieved installation - My interperatation of the error problem is that the speed of chip whether bus or cpu is preventing activesync\installation procedure from retreiving the pocket pc device id - not the program serial number -although a very seasoned pc user my knowledge of pocketpc code variace is non-existant and therefore also require help.

The tech guys at Eidos said that they have had a lot of negative feedback regarding stability of game with xscale processors but they have not got a dell axim to test - they suggested I get a refund from Handango - being a loyal tombraider fan - this seems such a shame.

All you moderator guys that have ran this program - please let the rest of us ignorant sorts into the secret!

That's a little strange, seems like a bit of an excuse from a company like Eidos, that they can't get a hold of a $300 piece of hardware to test a game. If it were me I'd ask for my money back....

Forward to earlier post - I have since sent another e-mail to eidos support as I descovered the installer program has been hacked ! - ( To bypass installer problem I copied all files too device and ran cab file from sd card - discovered butchered\added product ket txt file in data sub directory)
the request was:-
Further to several e-mails to you regarding trying to run tombraider on dell axim x5 with 400 processor - could you please note the following

1.I have been completely confused after reading several moderator posts on axim website www.aximsite.com that TR can be run and played on dell axim.I cannot with standard installation method get passed product key!

2.In complete frustration I manually copied all files to device and tried to run program with the following response

3.After further scrutiny I saw the following word txt in the datal subdirectory
4.Surely eidos is not responsible for this file !

Is any of this responsible for the repeated installation problems ? and can you supply me with a pre retail copy as noted in aximsite\boards\games tombraider threads? - or suggest a way around the problem - Could you please respond - it is very frustrating that some can get product to run on exact machine and I cannot.

anyway - eidos response was as follows :-

`The installer has indeed been illegally hacked and distributed. This is the only version of the game which may work on the Axim devices.

I'm very sorry, but there is no way that we can get the game working on your PocketPC unless a specifically compatible version is released. Unfortunately there are no plans that I'm aware of to produce further versions.`

I`m therefore very confused - I can only summise that earlier posts stating that TR runs on axim must be based on pre retail\beta version - or the installer (not necessarily the hack) is the main problem as it is totally geared towards Ipaq - this requires greater powers than I to resolve
