Keeping children occupied

Ok, My family and I have a trip
coming up in May, and will require
several hours on planes and stuck
in airports for hours at a time...

I have a 4 year old son, and
a 1 year old daughter...

My question is if anyone knows
of any occupying software...

for example my sons favorite is
iobox.com - Marble Maddness
Its easy for him, and meets a few requirements:

-Simple controls
-easy to start game over if you .. lose ..
-entertaining

My daughter likes the painting programs.
Kid Color
and
Pocket Water Works www.cellosoft.com
(No object, just tap and see water effects...)

Anyone have any suggestions?
these two are ok, but im sure they wont last for 6 hours!..

I also have 1 disney movie converted over, my son
enjoys it, have not tried it with my daughter yet...

Thanks for any ideas..

Try a handwriting recognition program on the ax that they can use as an etch-asketch or magnadoodle type thing.

A friend's 5 yr old went nuts over the notes program on it --just doodling. Maybe see if there is something better?

What about something like an NES emulator? Or 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe Log(hic) looks kind of cute.

Those last two look great thanks.

I think the Log(Hic!) one should be easy enough to even learn..

As the father of three boys (now out of that age range) and the happy owner of an Axim, I am still trying to believe that you would consider letting the 1 year old get within 5 feet of it!!! Teething, throwing, dropping, and jamming the stylus into the screen come to mind immediately. The 4 year old might really get the concept of being gentle with the screen and understand how to use some basic software, but he is, after all, just 4 and the Ax was several hundred dollars. Just doesn't make sense to me. Hope we don't see a post in a few weeks " I was on a trip and my 1 year old put my Axim in a ..."!

When my boys were that age and forced to go on plane trips with us, we were always loaded down with books, crayons, food, and drinks. I still think that's the way to go. Just my .02 and certainly don't mean to be critical. Just a bit surprised. - mm

I've let my son play with my Sony Clie N610
since i got it, he was around 3 at the time
he has been fine with it...

And my daughter only uses it while she is
in my lap, she thinks its great, and is suprisingly
gentle with the stylus...

I would rather deal with a pda, then piles of
paper and crayons on an airplane with
little or no room to spare in your seat...

I found some games for my 5yr. old daughter here http://www.ppc4you.com/topsites/
she plays with it when I need to keep her out of my hair and I havent had a problem with her wrecking it. sure she opens everything under the sun but heck it is easier to close a bunch of apps then have a 5yr old constantly rattling at you when your doing something like fixing a toilet or other home repair
