What Axim have you got? If it's an X50v (not sure about the other 2 X50s) you'll need Picard's enhanced GAPI driver installed. Then change the GAPI driver setting from Original to Enhanced driver. Works fine after that.

Okay, how do I change it from original to advanced?

when I did install the gAPI, it loads and shows but doesn't fit hte screen properly and the menu is all distorted at the bottom

Are you in True VGA mode, running se vga or oz vga? On mine the Enhanced GAPI displays normally in both qvga and vga. At the moment I'm not running in true vga though.
Are you accessing the driver through, start/settings/enhanced gapi?
Also, once the GAPI driver has been changed, you need to be in standard screen res, not vga to run Quake.
