You have to realize that the Pocket PC market isn't huge. A game that sells 10,000 copies is considered a
major success. In the console and desktop game market, 10K copies is considered a failure.
Popular phone games, on the other hand, sell thousand's of copies
each day at low cost (via subscription or individual sale). That is why you'll find many major IPs brought to the cellular market that will
never find their way to the Pocket PC.
Pocket PC Studios is unquestionably the leader in bringing big name titles to the Pocket PC - our lineup for 2005/2006 includes Europa Universalis, Jagged Alliance, Disciples and Warlords III. Other development studios are starting to follow our lead and testing the IP market. TetraEdge and Astraware are both examples of this with their adventure game ports.
What it all boils down to is return on investment. A small studio can create high quality PDA games and make a living. Larger companies don't see this as a viable opportunity and instead focus on cell phones which has a huge potential user base. We approach it a little differently by creating PDA games as well as DS titles. As long as the Pocket PC market continues to support our works by purchasing our titles we will continue to put them out.
