I agree, I just find that you can do so much more than the first one.

I have never played the 1st one. Is this good enough on its own to not bother with the 1st one?
Your thoughts?

Its probably good enough, but some of the parts make more since if you played through the first one.

I recommend you play through Arvale I before starting Arvale II. Arvale I is excellent in its own right, and it will make you appreciate the improvements that have been made to Arvale II even more! Besides, if you play through Arvale II and become addicted, like the rest of us, you may turn to Arvale I and be slightly disappointed, since the Arvale I interface is just slightly more clumsy and the gameplay slightly less challenging.
I thoroughly enjoyed Arvale I and was disappointed when I had finished it; I suspect Arvale II will take a bit longer to finish it and, given that there are three levels of difficulty (easy, normal, difficult) and I've selected the normal setting, I will definitely be replaying it on the difficult setting. Hopefully by the time I've got through that, Arvale III will be out! That's a hint, pdamill, in case anyone's listening!

Any tips on stats for us newbies? I'm putting an equal amount on Str and Dex leaving Aim alone. I was wondering if I had put it all on Dex if I could walk around never getting hit? Thoughts?

Since the first one did not have the "Aim" option. I do not use it at all, and only up my Strength and Dexterity. You will be fine during your journey simply with those stats. Somewhere down the road, I may replay it again and focus on the Aim stat, but we'll see. I may have to try your upping only the dexterity next time. That sounds like a fun experiment. Have fun!

Here is a review. I own a german site , so the review is in German. For all English-speaking out there ;), I have a Google Translation. ;)

This is a great game. You can play it even if you did play the original.
