The developer has been working on XWords recently ... and I just tried 4.1 beta 8 on my new X30 (PPC2003), and it seems to work great!
I used the .CAB file, and let it install itself into main memory. Here is a link to the download site. ![]()

If you go to the download site in the link I provided in my prior post, you can read the NOTES for each version, and see the issues Eric encountered, and how they were addressed. I plan to write to Eric to thank him for fixing the program so it works in PPC2003. I'll mention the SD card issue. I ran into it too. I think the reason we are having the problem, is because XWords is checking for a directory called \SD Card\Crosswords, while our Dell Axims have this directory called \Storage Card\Crosswords. Maybe Eric can set up XWords so it checks for both of these directory names? But I'm really glad it now works on PPC 2003 !!! It's one of my all-time favorite games !!! ![]()

I sent the following e-mail to the developer, Eric House, and received his reply:
> The only minor issue I encountered is when I tried to install XWords > on my SD Card. Your program is looking for "\SD Card\Crosswords". My > pocket pc named my memory card directory as \Storage Card so I'm > guessing this is the reason I can't run your program from my SD > Card. I guess "\Storage Card" is the default name that Microsoft > calls it's memory card if you only have one memory card slot in your > PPC. Some PPC's have a slot for both a Compact Flash and one for an > SD Card, so they may have named the directory as "\SD Card" name > like XWords is checking. Maybe you can have it check for both \SD > Card and for \Storage Card ? That might be the quickest and easiest > solution. I bet you're right on all counts. My device has slots for both types of cards, but I've never even tried a CF card in it. As you guess, it's trivial for me to add "\Storage Card\Crosswords" to the list that's searched, so I definitely want to try that before taking the riskier approach of adding a file browser and saved preference. So I'm guessing we should have a fix for the SD Card issue in the near future. ![]()
