Sorry, but I was on vacation and getting ready to go before that. I also like OCN5, but had a problem with it on my trip. I went from Kansas City, MO to Albuquerue, NM for Balloon Fest. I selected fast route. It wanted to take me Wichita, KS on I-35. It then would have put me on highway 54 to Tocumcari, NM, a 791 mile 21 hour and 22 minute route. I-35 connects to I-40 which goes to Albuquerque, NM. I added a waypoint to take that route which was a 895 mile 17 hour 23 minute route.
I am not putting OCN5 down, but my point is all programs will do some weird routing. I would want as many waypoints as possible to correct these problem. I also have taken forced some weird routes, because I want to go a certain way. Sometimes this will take 3 or 4 waypoints.
As other people people have pointed out, most of these programs including these two fine examples in this thread will get you where you want to go. You need to decide which features you like and which you can live without. Try to find the program that matches that the best.
One last warning for you. After you get your first program, you may find that your original preferences change. I found that with my big flop, Delorme Street Atlas Handheld 2005. One plus to that program was that it helped my figure out what I was looking for the next time.
