I had one, but it had problems and didn't work properly. Couldn't get a replacement, so I got a refund and bought a 303III which I use all the time and really like it. The problems I had was that it would not recognize the SD card on my old Toshiba e740. Don't know if it's PPC 2002 or the Toshiba unit itself that caused the problem. I could use the card with the X50v as it would read, but when you wanted to change the card you had to remove and replug the GPS unit to recognize the change. I wish I could have gotten a new unit to try, but if it works as well as the 303 you'll love it.

I have a 305III and it works fantastic but I also have the same problem with the SD slot in my Toshiba E830 as mentioned above. If I load the drivers for the slot the SD card works fine but no software can see the GPS. When I unload the drivers then the GPS works ok but no SD slot. Emailed to Haicom and they sent me out an updated driver and test program but still no go and I haven't heard back again from them so not sure if they are trying to figure it out or have just written me off. Oh well, still very pleased with the Haicom unit and the SD slot isn't a deal breaker. Cheers!

I have one and it has worked well for me. All I use the SD slot for is my maps and it sees them fine.

Ahhh...that's exactly what I wante to know. SO, if I use the slot for maps and maybe the software, do you think things will be okay??
It's a pretty good deal, right?
What software is everyone using with it?

I am using it for my maps and it works great for me. When I bought it that was all I wanted it to do. That way I kept the SD on my x50v open for all my other stuff. I run a 1G in the receiver and a 2G in the x50v. I run Destinator PN.

I'm also using the HI-305III SD slot for all my maps and it works fine on the X50V.
The only problem I've had is when I put it (with adapter) into a PCMCIA/PC Card slot in my Dell laptop. Win2K can't find drivers for the 2 devices (GPS & SD slot) on the HI-305III, even after I've run the Haicom hotfix. It may be that this hotfix is OK under WinXP, but the MSDN library suggests a number of known problems with multiple PC Card devices on a single physical card. Not really a problem since I won't be taking the laptop outside, but it's still a pain. If you also want to use your GPS on a laptop it might be better to stick with the single PC card device HI-303III.
