Dell Navigation Map Loader limitation cracked?
Recently I purchased a Dell bluetooth gps navigation system. I installed the software on my computer and loaded system map loader. To my surprise there was a 512mb storage limitation posted above map. I thought nothing of it and clicked state by state were I would travel. Then the annoying message of over 512mb limit poped up. It's truely unfair that you can only install 512mb on a 1gb storage card. Me being the geek that I am, didn't stop me from installing more than 512mb on 1gb card. I discovered a file named "sizeinfo.sz" in C:\Program Files\Dell\GPS Navigation System. I moved file from the folder and loaded the gps map loader software. To my surprise, I was able to fit more states than it allowed me if file "sizeinfo.sz" was in program folder. I then realized the file "sizeinfo.sz" convernts the compression ratio file size of maps after it is decompressed. The file limitation is still 512mb without the sizeinfo file, but you get the maps at a compressed ratio when you choose states. I successfuly installed 22 states! CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, MD, MA, MN, NJ, NY, NC, ND, OH, PA, SC, SD, VA, WV AND WI. Don't erase the file, it comes in handy when you need the correct file size. Have fun

Well I would rename it if I were you. Yes you can do with out file. Remember, the file "sizeinfo.sz" gives correct file size after file is decompressed. You will have to regenerate map if you choose too much for your memory card, flash card etc. Unless you have a 2gb card or better; then it doesn't matter. Hope that answers your question.

I love my Dell Axim x30. I just lent it out to my friend so he can navigate his way from NYC to Minot, North Dakota! Not only that, it only took 5 seconds to generate a route. That's great, considering I use to use Garmin Street pilot II (damn thing took forever just to route in same city).

YES the 512 max limit is there, But you're able to fit more maps (compressed) without sizeinfo.sz in program directory. Try to open program first with file "sizeinfo.sz" in program folder, then choose states. After that is done, close program and move file sizeinfo or rename it. Now open program and choose states, you will notice more states are able to be choosen. Make sure you have enough space on your SD card, Flash, etc. Because if you don't, you will have to regenerate map all over (pain in butt). Most of the maps in program are compressed at a 50% ratio; in other words, if you reach the 512mb storage limit without sizeinfo.sz in program directory, it's really 1gb. Hope I explained it simple enough for everyone to understand.
