Dell BT-309 & Tom Tom 5
Have been using the Dell BT-309 receiver, with my Axim X30 and Tom Tom 3 for sometime now and have had no issues.

However have recently upgraded to Tom Tom 5 (in fact 2 days ago) and now when I go to use it, Tom Tom shuts down as soon as the GPS gets a signal lock.

Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening, any suggestions greatly received.

try to shut off your POI's when you just started tomtom. when you are able to keep tomtom open in that way that should be the problem. i had the same problem. only solution is to copy the POI-file from tomtom3 to the file that holds your map and replace the original POI-file from tomtom5 by that. the problem is that it might be outdated of course...

Well I turned of the POI's and tried it again. All to no avail, Tom Tom still turned itself off when it got the signal.

Am going to try another re-installation of the software and see what happens, hopefully this might sort it out.

On a side note, should the GPS receive be in SFIF or NEMA mode??

Solution
Hi,
I have just found a solution which works for my set up - Axim 30, Tom Tom 5, BT-309 -

Select 'Other Cable NMEA GPS' even though you are using Bluetooth
Set the baud rate to 4800
Select com port 7
The black/yellow icon in the right top corner should now start to spin.
