Best gps in-car holder for axim x50/51
Ok just got my handheld (x51v) absolutely LOVE it. Purchased tomtom nav5 and have it installed and working...Getting my globalsat bt338 gps receiver the end of the week...
As you can probably see the only thing missing will be a in-car holder and I don't know where to start. My main prob will be I am getting a new car so I need something that looks good but is temporary and doesn't mark the car.
SO ANY SUGGESTIONS...PLUS WHERE TO BUY ONLINE?
Cheers

Lots of possibilities. Arkon, Seidio, RAM all make suction cup units that can be removed easily. Look at some of the reviews hear at aximsite, and use the search function for those names. Some folks have had some problems with them, but in general they all work pretty well. You can pick powered or non powered units. If your new car is quiet, you may not need an amplified unit, but it is something to consider.

I purchased the Arkon powered mount, BT338, iGuidance 2.1.3 package and it all works flawlessly - very happy with the bundled suite.
Very impressed with the response of the BT338, and the ease of use of iGuidance.

proclipusa.com they make great kits for "permanently" mounting the bracket to your car. its far from permanent but it is secure. the system is a bit pricey but it blends very well with my dashboard and beats any vent or cupholder mount

Arkon - windshield mount, swivels, powers your device and has audio amplifier... love it!
I tried a basic Gomadic windshield mount and after a few months it wouldn't stay on the windshield. It didn't have swiveling head, so to adjust it you had to stop the car and rebend the gooseneck

Two thumbs up for the Seidio g2500. Works well, has a nice built in speaker, and I can move it from my car to a rental car when I travel.

If you go with Proclips do a lot of searching for price. I was looking a XM Radio Mount for my van and everywhere wanted 30-35 bucks. Found a place thru Google and got it sent to my house for 10.00. Exact same in Proclip Box. Thats if you want to save money of course.

Hey I got me a holder from a site called gps for less (I'm in the UK btw), the holders great at attaching to the windsheild and also comes with a stickey base so you can attach it to other parts of the car as well (the sucker still works so you can remove the holder leaving behind the sticky base)... it comes with a 12v car charger and an RJ11 connection for connecting to your GPS unit... best of all it only cost me £35 (approx. $50??).
Have a look... I'm well pleased with mine...

If you're in the UK, gpsforless = brilliant service! Super fast delivery even when I changed the deliery address at the last moment!!

I use both the Seidio G2500 and the G4850 (similar to G4500 series) and they both are excellent mounts.

Dirt Cheap.
I got one off eBay for $3.
Search for windshield car holder and try in the PDA section...

I have the Arkon regular vent mount. It is kind of flimsy, but does do the trick. if I had the $$ to spend I would probably go with the Proclip usa one instead. I get some vibration on mine on bumpy roads. But, it works relatively well.

I use the Arkon powered mount DM320 and BT-339 GPS receiver with iGuidance. I work part time on an ambulance and this really helps in our area as we cover 8 counties. The only problem I have with the dock is that the actual arm is not adjustable, although it works pretty good I would like to "tweak" it a little bit.

Same here...in my car, the vent mount puts the PDA at essentially the perfect spot for me. It's not powered but I run the audio out from the PDA into a line-in input to my stereo, so that cuts down on the amount of weight that the vent mount has to hold. I think it's a good compromise, especially considering it was a freebie with my GPS.

x50v gets *very* hot in my Seidio 2500; otherwise a nice mount.
