Another patch...

I just received another patch from Garmin support which only a new executable. I will post a link to the file but YMMV as the tech support rep didn't seem to understand my email to her and initially didn't understand my request, responding that I should "talk to Windows" about the problem.

EDIT:

Unfortunately I am on the road right now and have nowhere to upload the file for easy download. If somebody wants to PM me who will upload it for other users, i'll be happy to pass it along. I installed it and everything is working fine without using the replacement .nvm file that makes up the other patch. BTW, the executable is dated September 27th '05 so it is definitely a newer version than the one on their website. Thanks!

The patch without the NVM file (which is a file that gets created when you customize something on your iQue mapping software) probably just modifies your existing NVM file.

Are you seeing that the Que's Nav screen is now too large for the display? Some of the map at the bottom (including the Zoom button) is obscured by the menu bar.

Is this just mine or are others having the same problem.

It's not a serious problem, but thought I'd ask about it.

Dave
He's right and it happened after I installed the latest Que upgrade on Garmin's website... the one that adds GPS 10 Properties to the menu... now the bottom is slightly obscured.. a bit annoying but still very useable...

I don't have a screen shot app to take one either

Hi,

I don't have an easy way to screen shot this. I also found another "bug". My voice prompts are getting cut off. For example, when approaching a turn, it may say "Turn right in three hund..." and gets cut off right there without finishing the sentence.

Hi,

I wondered the same, so I reinstalled the American English files, but it made no difference.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't have the option listed for COM7. The highest it COM5 (BT UART on COM5)

Hi,

I don't think there are any other fixes yet. Did you follow my instructions above? Seems to have worked for all others.

Btw, I finally gave up and went back to Windows Mobile 3.0. Here it was, days later, and all I've seen are problems, crashes, errors, failed startups, etc. Enough is enough. Dell and Microsoft should be ashamed to be palming off this untested garbage on the public. Windows Mobile 5 acts like a pre-beta version. At least I only spent an extra $40 for the "upgrade" and I can downgrade it. I hope the x51v owners are doing better.

My X51V is working fine except for the occasional loss of the SD card. GPS works great now. Garmin sent me a new exe today, so I'm not sure what that will fix. If I have time I give it a try tomorrow.

Hi JeffFlowerfay,

If it works, let us know, or better attached it to your post to this message board. Occasional loss of SD card happens to me once is awhile but in WM2003SE. I have not received my WM5 yet, so if you have it, then its not fixed in Windows Mobile. The CF card is more dependable.

I've made it work now. I installed the GPSGate and it works like a charm. :D

Well... Sometimes I have to sett up the gps again and it will not use the same virutal port as before... Just so you know. I have to make a new port every time.
(AND sometime x51v freeces because of GPSGate, I have to turn off/on the axim.)
