Hi, I have the Haicom 303 CF. Let me ask some questions.

1) what software are you using.
2) are you doing this outside in clear view of the sky?

This is what I sent to BUYGPSNOW.com
Cannot get HI-305 III to fix with Axim X5

What is the procedure to install? I have the drivers installed and Haicom PPC test program but it never seems to fix.

Additionally it shows that date in the GPS info program as 10/27 the UTC time is correct but the date is not. I tried to use this device in both my Axim X5 and X50v and I have the same problem "no fix" sometimes it acts like it is getting 2 satellites but the never fix. It shows I have 0/8 satellites in the GPS info program.

What year does it show for the date? There is an issue with some chipsets where the unit gets a "bad" almanac from the satellites and the date is off by a factor of 1024 weeks.

It came with 2003 stock.

the guy at buygpsnow.com told me to use WINFAST Navigator and reset the GPS to Factory. I am going to give it a shot tomorrow. Will post the results either way.

In the meantime if anyone has any other possible solutions I greatly welcome them.

I'd liek to hear the solution on this one too. I just received my 305II today and it's not working with mapopolis. The GPS info util seems ot be fine....correct date, fix, etc... But mapopolis doesn't see it.

How did you do a factory reset using Win Nav? The Haicom seems to be com 5 which is not an option for the win nav program....

It was with mine. You start the program first then plug-in the CF card. It will tell you in a series of pop screens on the PPC what port it was loaded. Then select the Baud (4800) and Port.

Mine is really irratic. I have seen it connect once with the winfast nav. I did get a fix, but was unable to factory reset the device and I ahven;t been abel to connect since. So, that's four different programs I've tried...I think I need a replacement.

I have a message in to buyGPSnow....

I had one that had the same problem and know 2 others that bought this unit and had the same problem locking satellites. Didn't matter what software you used, it had a mind of its own. Plus I could not get the SD card reader to work on the PPC 2002 machines. After many hours of trouble shooting, and a hard reset on an X50V, an hp 5555, and an e740, I asked for an RMA. They said they'd send a replacement, but sent an email stating that it worked for them so no replacement so I got a refund and bought a 303III from Semsons. This unit has performed flawlessly and the performance is awsome.
