I would go with iGuidance, when ships with both pc and ppc versions. You can use it as many machines as you own! Works great with X51V.

Pocket Streets

Pocket Streets is the same from 2005 to 2006. Microsoft has a habit of only upgrading the pocket version every couple years, so why waste $$ buying it again, when there aren't even that many changes to the map from the main program?

I was looking for a cheap GPS solution for my x51v so I picked up MS Streets & Trips 2006 w/ GPS from Staples today which had it on sale for $90. I used a $30 off $75 coupon so it only cost me $65 out the door.

From what I have read, the GPS receiver included in the package is just a Pharos GPS receiver rebranded by Microsoft. The package itself says the receiver is compatible with GPS-360 accessories. Can anyone confirm if the included GPS receiver the same as the Pharos iGPS-360?

If it is the same as the iGPS-360, then the chipset it uses is SiRF StarIIe/LP. I know that its not the latest SiRFstar III, but is it good enough? BTW, Pharos announced their latest SiRFstarIII GPS receiver.

I'm also debating whether to get the BlueTooth Dock or the CompactFlash Adapter. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two adapters and can share their experience?

Does the BT problems with WM5 affect the use of the BlueTooth dock?

robman made some great points. I'm in st. louis right now on a trip I planned on s and t. I have 21 stops between chicago and missouri, and S and T routed it in a minute. now i just use my gps to get from one stop to the next.

I think MS does a poor job of explaining what PS is. I use OCN 5 and PS with my X51v and BT 338. If I am planning a trip or I want to do some routing I use OCN 5 with maps stored on my SD card. I use PS when I am looking for a location on the fly and either don't have my GPS with me or don't want to go through setting it up although the latter has been easier since the A12 rom so it seems with the map stored on my X51.

As for S&T it works great on my laptop with my BT 338 since it comes with PS I don't consider it a big deal.

I guess the main thing to keep in mind is this. If you are buying S&T to get PS don't. If you are buying S&T to use S&T on your PC it's not a bad purchase.
