Which power mount for the X51v?
I have a Seido G2500 for my X5, but after many months, the suction is not the best any more. But otherwise no problems

I see the Arkon has 2 powered mounts: DM300 and CM700.

In searching Aximsite, I have seen pros and cons of each. Has anyone had the Arkon for over 6 months? How are the suction cups holding up? Are there any other problems?

Seidio just introduced many new car mounts

1) G4850 Integrated GPS cradle - with latest SiRF III GPS chip.
2) G4500- a new version of car cradle for X50/X51

IMHO, personally, I think you should have come out with a mount that allows a PDA with an extended battery. The G4500 is no different from the G2500.

it is suggested that you remove and reapply the suction cup every 2 weeks or 3 ... due to the sun hitting the windshield and draw moisture/dry out ... to assure a firm suction !

I have an axim x51v and an arkon CM720 for almost 5 months .. suction cup still works just as day one ( I remove & re-apply to the windshield every other week)

If you like the mount otherwise, it would be cheaper to replace the gooseneck/suction cup and keep the mount.

I am trying to get a GPS system for my Axim, I was looking at Seidio car kit and Akron car mount. After reading the Lawman's review on Seidio G4850.

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=107435

I seem to decide on Seidio G4850. Just slide the Axim into the cradle and go. It is very simple and easy. Also the price is quite attractive for a cradle with Sirf III receiver inside.

What happens if Dell introduces another Axim in the next year with a different connect. both x30 and x50 have different connectors?

Well, if you're the type that can afford to change your PDA every year, then go Arkon.

Don't forget that GPS mapping programs are keyed to your PocketPC DeviceID. So, unless you can transfer the GPS mapping program to a different PPC with a different DeviceID, then I can't see people changing PDAs like they change cellphones. Not saying that it would not happen.

I like the fact that there are choices for people i.e. Arkon and Seidio.

Forget the suction cup mount. Just go to ProClip http://www.proclipusa.com/vehiclemou...clemounts.aspx and see if they make a vehicle mount for your vehicle. Just buy the vehicle mount and except for four small screws, the Seidio G2500 comes with everything you need to hook it the the ProClip mount.

The G2500 comes with a small square plastic piece that goes between the mount a the windshield mount. It has four holes that will lineup with the pre-drilled holes on the ProClip if you turn it sideways. I have a Ford E150 Van and did not like the mounting options in it until I found this setup. I leave the ProClip in all the time. The G2500 will slide on and off as needed.

I wish Seidio would send two of those with the G2500. I rarely use the GPS in our other vehicles, but I got another square thing from Seidio. I do use the windshield mount on the rare occations I need to use it in one of my other vehicles.
