Pushbutton

I have the GlobalSat BT-338 with the updated s/w. It was a replacement for the Dell version of the 308.

It seems to work fine but when I use it either with the Axim X50v or my PC it is identified as BT-GPS-308BBF. This makes me thing that something is screwed up in the firmware.

Any comments or suggestions?

That's perfectly normal, wouldn't worry about it. It is the unique ID for the GPS receiver and not necessarily the model number.
