TomTom Navigator voice stutters when giving directions.

I'm using TT 5.1 on my Axim X5 with a Haicom 303III CF GPS receiver.

When I initially setup the TT whilst still at home, I choose the voice which sounded great, no stuttering at all.

However, when I plugged in the 303III in the car, let it connect to the sats and setup my route, the voice began stuttering when giving directions.

I have my X5 set at it's maximum speed (400mhz). I'm thinking that it has something to do with the GPS receiver, as the voice sounded great without it. Is it possible that it's using the CPU too much as it gets info from the sats? When driving, the screen updates very smoothly so it doesn't appear to slow down the TT software.

Anyone else had any problems with the stuttering voice?

It's a well documented TT bug. One solution that works for some people is to turn off the 'link volume to car speed' option in the 'Volume Preferences' menu.

Just a guess here because I don't drive but cleaning up your memory cannot hurt. When's the last time you dumped your Temp files?

I chose "Jane", the British voice. Sometimes she gets a little nervous, then that makes me tense, and I start yelling and she tells me to "piss off wanka", to which I reply, "What did you say to me?" and she says, "Did I stutter!".

Just kidding, I couldn't resist. I have TT 04 and never have that problem on my x30.

When I used TT5.1 with my X5, it was horrible because sometimes the sound worked, other times, it didn't--requiring a soft reset. Now with my X50, those problems are gone! :)

Thanks for the advice guys...

I tested it again last night and I installed some new voices too (the John Cleese voice is pretty good!) and I haven't had the problem yet.

My X5 is pretty clean. No other progs on their so I don't think it's a memory issue.
