Point me in the right direction, guys! ;-)

Hi! I've been wanting a GPS-device for my x50v for a long time now, and are currently in the process of persuading my parents to buy me one for christmas. The problem is that i'm not really sure of what to get. Hopefully, you guys can help me!

Some questions:

1. A GPS-reciever that fits into my free CF-slot (I guess Bluetooth-recievers are more expensive?)

2. I live in Sweden, and I suppose map-software can be a problem. How do I solve this? will the software cost me anything?

3. Are there any terms or functions i should be aware of? Are there things that expemsive recievers can do that cheap ones can't? What about the software?

And BTW, i run WM2003.

Thanks in advance!

I would not use a cf or other memory slot for gps. Bluetooth is more expensive, but a wired receiver will be a good value. Use the flash memory slots for memory. Bluetooth receivers have to be charged, so to me there's no benefit over a wired receiver. Supposedly the best ones get better reception but I've never had a problem w/my cheapie.

Map software will cost about $100. There are many good brands. There are many features that each has, but overall they all do the same thing and even get their maps from the same places. The difference is just a few features and the user interface.

I use a CF GPS receiver and it works great. It does not have to be "charged" - it draws its power from the PDA. TomTom or OCN probably have the best maps for Europe. You should cruise gpspassion.com.

Read the reviews of software here. Most vendors currently have European versions. If you have a cf slot free, a cf receiver can work well. BT is more expensive, but has the advantage of not having something sticking out of the Axim when in use, but the disadvantage of requiring you to carry two devices (axim and receiver).

For terms and features, read the two articles linked in my sig for how GPS works. GPS 201 in particular has a section about the features and functions.
