Ocn5 (special X-mas Offer)

Can't wait till I get my hands to the OCN5 (X-MAS OFFER) that I order from buygpsnow.com. It's a real nice deal!!!

Also, I want to say thank you to AXIMSITE for the discount code. I got a $12 off! :approve:

I will have the opportunity to test it this coming New Year. I will be going to MAINE from Toronto, but unfortunately , the package doesn't have any Canadian MAP. So, I will be using my Garmin GPS 10 from toronto to niagara falls (US border). Hopefully there will be no conflict with my Garmin QUE Nav.

Any advice or fast experienced with having 2 Navigation software in there AXIM PPC?

Thanks!

We received ours today and I'm trying to get the X50v to see the receiver. Apparently initialization takes upwards of 20 minutes. I'm trying to do this in the house and maybe that's the problem. After so long the receiver just shuts down. I think I'll just bite the bullet and take it outside.

Okay, after a few emails with oncourse I have the solution. It seems you need to walk through OCN5 auto detection setup to get the GPS to OCN5 data path going. Seems like kludgy software or incomplete installation instructions to me.

Page 3/8 on the Quick Start Guide clearly says the following:

1. Turn on your Bluetooth GPS receiver.
2. [Optional] Turn on your PDA and pair up your Bluetooth with your PDA. Please refer to the manual of your Bluetooth GPS.
3. Be sure that your Bluetooth radio on your PDA is turned on.
4. Launch OnCourse Navigator, tap on Settings, scroll down to GPS, tap on Automatic detection button and follow the instructions on the screen.

I dont know if it is true that you dont need to pair the BT gps device or map a port in the BT Manager. They say that OCN5 had its own BT manager that enables and establish a BT link by itself as soon as you run the OCN GPS Auto Detection.

I'll try it myself once I got my order.

jdeleon0526, I removed the actual discount code in your post because only registered members are able to access it in the Members Discount forum. :)

Yes, you still have to pair up (create a new partnership) and set up a COM port (outgoing port) thru your Bluetooth Manager in WM5.0 devices.

Once you have the above setup (1 time only), OCN5 will automatically connect to your Bluetooth GPS receiver during startup.

Here is a complete step-by-step installation instruction for WM5.0:

I have had the Christmas special for quite some time. When I first got it I turned on the GPS unit then installed and launch OCN5. The software connected with the bluetooth GPS without any intervention on my part. I didn't even have bluetooth on the X51v turned on at the time.

The plug the straight cable into the one end of the charger. Now you have two similar ends. Plug your blutooth device into one of the ends and connect the adapter that came with your axim into the other end. Then plug your axim into the adapter.
