Lane Details in GPS

I got my Rikaline 32-channel Bluetooth GPS (GPS-6033) today and got connected after some fiddling around. Went for a short test drive and realised it does not tell me to shift lanes etc. Just tells you to take left or right turn.

I remember seeing one friend using a GPS from dell which used to tell you to be on right lane if you needed to take right and were coming close to your turn.

Is this GPS receiver specific or am i missing some setting???

It's software. iGuidance will tell you "bear right" or "bear left" if you are approaching a Y-split roadway, for example.

None of the software packages can tell you to change lanes. The GPS isn't that accurate. Te software sometimes can tell you to bear left or right, or turn left or right, or stay on the left or right, but they don't know lanes.

Even at their best current commericial GPS recievers are off by good 20-30ft. The lanes on the highway's are approx 6-8 ft wide.
The software cant figure it out which lane we are in. Also the Refresh speed is not fast enough to detect a 6 feet change which is all we need to make a lane change.

I use Iguidance and it says "Exit on the right" . "Go straight for xyz feet and exit on left" etc.

I use OCN5 and it tells you "Take the exit right" or "take the exit left", "bear right", etc... Like some of the others mentioned no software can tell you what lane you're in, at least not yet.

Make that 12 to 14 feet for the ones that actually are the best current commercial GPS receivers.
