Can y'all help me find the best price on a Holux GM-270U. The best I've found is $189.00... I can find the GM-270 for like $159 but I guess I convinced myself I wanted the "ultra" model. I'm planning to use this with Tom Tom in Europe. Thanks in advance for the help!

That will probably the best price for new.

You may stumble across someone who is bailing out of PDA ownership and get it cheaper but I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if the difference between the GM-270 and GM-270U is significant? I can't find any comparisons between the two.

On the other hand, can you recommend a good CF GPS other than the Holux?

- they have some bundled deals on offer that includes GM-270 (believe it is the Ultra model). Also included is an external antenna, Tomtom Nav 2 and PDA mount for the princley sum of £239.99 / $360ish (incl VAT) - National shipping charge is about £5 - not sure about International orders. Also spoke with one of their reps - very friendly and helpful. Believe they are also doing a bundle that includes a Dell Axim. Go have a look.

If any UK Aximers know of a supplier that bundles the same package cheaper then please let me know - am about to take the plunge and can't find anyone to beat them at the moment.

You can buy online directly from the largest GPS retailer in Taiwan. I ordered the complete package and had it shiped to my home address in Taiwan (Free 2-day shipping on orders over US$30 within Taiwan, how nice!). The package has the GM270-U, External Antenna and Navigation software for use in Taiwan. The total is only about US$159. My parents will bring them to me next Monday, since they will be visiting me in the US for 3 weeks.

The receiver itself and the antenna only cost US$144 (NT$4990). And on their site they said their international shipping is about US$21.

So 144 + 21 = 165 gets you the Ultra model and the antenna.

The regular model with antenna is about US$113(NT$3890).

looks like a good deal but at the end of the day, the deal that the Holux UK distributor/dealer has on offer matches yours pretty well really as far as the GPS and Antenna goes. Tomtom Nav 2 retails over here in the UK for approx £115 so when you add the two together the UK option is pretty damned good. Add to that the fact that any support issues will be dealt with easier at home rather than abroad makes it even better.

Thanks for the reply mate - am about to order the gear and like you can't wait to get my mitts on it - just need to grab an Arkon powered PDA holder and I'm good to go.
