GPS confused. Need direction.

Ok, I've been trying to read and educate myself in the world of GPS but there are so many choices with hardware and software for my x50v.

Can someone direct me into having an optimum setup where I can have dash mounted as well as mobile GPS?

I know that I don't want a wired setup but still want a powered mount of some sort.

Which BT receiver would suit me best? What's the difference between the different software packages? Which ones give accurate turn by turn verbal voice like in newer GPS equiped cars?

I'm probably repeating questions that are in this forum but am just confused as to what to get.

Thanks for your time.

Search the boards, there are lots of other posts on this topic. As for a decent setup, go to www.buygpsnow.com and check out the Oncourse Chritmas bundle. It has one of the highest rated BT GPS receivers, car mount, SD Card, and the Oncourse SW (one of the more popular softwares).

Coach, read some of the reviews here at aximsite for some insight into GPS packages. Software for PDA's is often the same as in the cars, since the car manufacturers buy the software from the same vendors. For a wireless solution you should look for a BT receiver, powered mount (preferably with speaker and amplifier) and software that has an interface you like. You can get bundles at buygpsnow.com and semsons.com, among others.

let me describe what i have.

I have a AXIM51v + BT-338 + IGuidance + Windshield mount. I bought it at buygpsnow.

I installed the windshield mount. I have my AXIM on it.
When I brought BT-338, they sent me a "Y" cable with cigarette light adapter. This can be used to power both AXIM 51v and BT-338 reciever.
Basically one of the "Y" goes into AXIM (via a connector provided by DELL as standard with AXIm 50/51v) and other one goes to BT-338 (blue tooth reciever)

This worked for me well and it is much cheaper than POWERED MOUNT with AMPLIFIER (for me a casetter adapter OR FM transmitter connected to the HEADPHONE socket of dell does an equally good job)
