Worried Iguidance w/ BT-338 Voice / Mounting Problem

I just recently purchased the Iguidance 2.1.3 bundle with BT-338 from buygpsnow.com, it works great on my axim x50v, setup took less than two hours and I was up and running. The only problem I have so far is that the voice instruction won't work. I checked my speakers and they were on and the speakers on the iguidance software was on also... did I miss a step somewhere? Also, the BT-338 works great, except I don't know how I should mount it, it is sliding all over on my dashboard, my short term solution for now is tape, if you guys have any recommendations that would be great thanks!! oh yeah.. lastly the mounting kit from buygpsnow.com is semi-permanent, i am looking for a mounting kit that is very portable that I can carry from car to car, if you have any suggestions that would be awesome too Thanks!

Have you tried doing a soft reset to see if that fixes your problem. When I was using Routis 2004 I'd get the same problem every once in a while and a soft reset always seemed to work. As far as a mount goes, I have a windsheild mount that moves from car to car quite easily. Check arkon.com. They have a large selection of mounts. I would definitely consider getting a longer pedestal depending on the type of windshield you have. Also, keep in mind if you get a "fitted" mount (made specifically for your model) it will probably not work w/ a case/cover if you're using one. This means you'd have to take it out of the case everytime you mount it and then put it back in when you get out of your car (if you need to take it w/ you). This may not apply to what you're looking for, but it was something that I had not thought of when I purchased my arkon powered mount.

Good luck!
Ed

I have the BT-338 carrying case attached with tie-wrap to back of inside rear view mirror. GPS is stowed there with hidden power cord from headlinder area. The unit is out of view to potential thiefs. It is not very noticeable because of tinted glass. It is easy transported to another car simply by removing it from attached carry case. It does not slide around when mounted to back of mirror. I have also punched a hole in carrying case for power button to be exposed.

How reliable are those suction mounts that sticks to your windshield, my biggest fear is that one day it'll bounce off the windshile and

If you mount it correctly, it should stick pretty well. I mount mine low on the glass, with the gooseneck horizontal and very near the dashboard. The cradle then rests against the edge of the dashboard to dampen vibrations. That arrangement takes the weight off the suction cup and only uses it as a stabilizer. Actually, if the cradle extends past the edge of the dash then the gooseneck actually pushes UP on the suction cup as the cradle takes the weight. Look at some of the reviews in the GPS section for photos that show how I mount them.

Not sure if this will help, but I just set up iGuidance w/ a different gps and had the same issue. Mine was a simple fix, under Settings on the Axim, choose sounds and notifications, make sure "Programs" is checked (you don't have to check notifications)

.

If you haven't already, I'd open a ticket w/ buygpsnow or Iguidance. I know buygpsnow has a userforum and the buygpsnow people are pretty quick for being mainly internet support only. I'm not sure if Iguidance has a user forum. I'd try that as well. Sorry I can't give you more helpful answers.

I am assuming you have verified X51V speakers are working by playing MP3s or something. Trying plugging headphone in and see if you can hear anything. Just a thought.

Did you install any or the correct language when prompted to do so?

I mount mine on the windshield via suction cup and has yet to come off - even on Europe's constant bumpy roads.
