Multimedia powered mount for Axim X5 - UK

Hi,

I'm based in the UK and my Axim X5 will be arriving on Monday 19th May.

I've bought it as a basis of a GPS solution ...

I am currently deciding on TomTom Navigator 2 and Mapopolis Navigator for software, and for GPS, it'll be a CF card colution, but my last issue remains unresolved ...

I'm looking for a powered mount for the Axim in my car.

Does anyone have this one installed in their car :

I would be grateful for any information on how easy it was to fit it and whereabouts you have fitted it.

I have searched the forum sites, but with so many different models out there, some of the threads seem to go off-track enough to prompt me to post this question ...

This is my first ever Pocket PC so will be spending the weekend downloading software, going through the forums and getting ready to use it on Monday when it arrives. can't wait !

Thanking you kindly ...

Hi, the mount looks fantastic, just what i need to go with the TT2 kit i just ordered, arrives tomorrow!!
I,m a bit worried that installing it is beyond my capabilities, how does it connect to the car?, wonder if it is through the cig lighter, then again wont the GPS need to plug in the cig lighter, pity you coudnt connect the GPS reciever into the mount as well?
PS Did you find out anything else about it
Regards

looks ideal for my needs. I too am in the UK but that outlet is in the US. Did you manage to find a UK reseller for that product?

Cheers

Powered mount.

I bought the Arkon powered mount from Expansys. They offer two types - adhesive or suction. I went for the adhesive one because suction mounts have had the bad habit of falling off the windscreen while driving. The holder can be detached from the mount for stops etc and the whole thing works great. My system is a Pretec CFGPS, external aerial and TomTom Navigator 2 software. The amplified speaker is very clear and has a good volume control. I can really recommend this mount. Ordered before 3.00 pm will get you next working day delivery.

The ARKON Powered Mount is great for the Axim. In the UK, you can get it from Expansys. http://www.expansys.com

They also have a french site at http://www.expansys.fr

I don't know if they've begun selling the ARKON Powered PDA Mount bundles yet though... I called and they told me they would have them soon.

In the U.S., you can order the Powered Mounts direct from ARKON at http://www.arkon.com/pdapower.html

Mobile Planet also carries them... http://www.mobileplanet.com

If you are outside the U.S., you'll want to check with the distributors listed in your country at http://www.arkon.com/global.html

I use the ARKON Powered Mount with my Axim and GPS CF solution. The amplified speaker boosts up the GPS voice commands so that you can actually hear them.
