Mapopolis 4.0x is now available
Just checked Mapopolis site and it is available for download.

I had to send an email to upgrade, and I only have the clear route demo maps. It still shows 4.05beta in the HELP file.

Tell us more!
Are there any changes to the basic app? Does it look any different or does it do do more (besided clear route)?

Why did you have to send an email to upgrade?

Did you uninstall your earlier version or just upgrade on top of it?

More info would be appreciated.

I posted photos here

On IE6+ you have to wait for the image to load, then move your cursor over the image and click on the resize icon to make it viewable.

I just installed over the previous version, the software did it all. Old maps don't work, so if you bought the old maps in the past 30 days, you need to email them to upgrade you or you have to buy the Navigation map pack again.

Wow, I have 336 days left (out of 375) and the upgrade would cost $79.96, I would have expected a credit for that amount, not a charge that high. I had thought it would have been pro-rated better. Looks like I won't be upgrading any time soon.

I just purchased my map pack on 5/1/03 so I sent off an email. I haven't heard back yet but I didn't even see the Navigator maps anymore on their site. Are they still updating their site or did I miss it?

I think they may be going through some problems with the Version 4 transition. I have been in email contact all day with them trying to get it straightened out. Everytime I do what they say, I keep getting improper version errors on my maps....hold on, email just came in from them, I'll get back here in a few.

As I suspected, they just told me that they are having errors that they weren't aware of. This is what they just sent seconds ago:

Hi,

Correct -- the ZIPPED counties appear to ALL be missing.

I just informed the programmers. I wasn't aware of the convenience links
being old though.

I will check this and get back to you,
Cheryl

I'll keep you all updated as this progresses...

Ok, cool thanks. Also, the new version doesn't include the Clear Route stuff, does it?

Ok...

Just curious. Once you emailed them for the upgrade, how did you get the maps? Did they do something on your account so when you login, you can download them?

Just 2 days ago I purchased the Holux GPS/Mapopolis combo from www.buygpsnow.com and the next day, yesterday, I got an email from buygpsnow with my access code. I went to the site, punched in the code and, voila, had unlimited free access to all maps. Then today I find out that version 4 is out and that is where the version problems began.

As a side note, the interface of version 4 looks MUCH better so hopefully I'll get it going soon. Also, I have been shocked at the speed with which Mapopolis responds to my email questions, especially considering it is Sunday!

So you haven't received the new maps as of yet? Just the new 4.0 software? When I purchased mine, I too could download all the maps. But now the link to the Nav package is gone.

Yea they are pretty good. I was talking with the same person, Cheryl, a couple weeks ago. Come to find out that she works from home as well.

Yeah, I have the 4.0 software and actually got the Major Roads map to work but since then, nothing. The Nav pack link is gone for me also. The weird thing, a couple hours ago it was there, now it isn't. Oh well, I've been pretty impressed with this company so far and I have a feeling they'll get it taken care of.

I wish I could work from home, but the neighbors don't like the noise of a helicopter landing in my driveway.

Yeah I'm sure they will. I just hope the upgrade is still free for me since it's only been 17 days since I purchased it.

I believe if your purchase was within 30 days they will bump you up for free, but don't quote me on that
