We (= my wife and I) are geocaching for 3 years now. We use the Garmin Etrex Vista outdoors and Axim5 with the Haicom CF Sirf3 card running the Mapopolis navigation software to bring us close to the caches. And we love it!
Huh...I had absolutely no idea that this even existed! I can't say that I'd sign up for this sport, but I wish all the power to ya all :) Sounds like it could be very entertaining.
I've been geocaching . . . some in Steelers country
Hope to see you there sometime!

There are some good suggestions for navigation here in the thread. For keeping records, be sure to check out GPXSonar if you haven't already. See here:
If you subscribe to geocaching.com and are familiar with queries, then this program is an indispensible tool. And, it's better than inexpensive, it's free!!!
I've been caching for a while now and I used to take my X30 into the woods, but the thought of it being dropped by either myself or my rambunctious nephews made me rethink the whole thing. And I wouldn't even consider taking the X51v out of the car when I get to a caching stop. So just to be safe, I bought a sub-$100 Magellan Explorist. It makes things more fun...I let the nephews carry the device and if it gets wet, so what? (it's waterproof) :approve:

I've been caching for about 5 weeks now, with 41 finds and 4 hides to my name. Of course I'm caching under the name "Inertial".
I started with my x50v (with HAiCOM CompactFlash HI-303III GPS receiver) and loaded it with GPXSonar and VITO Navigator II. I already had iGuidance so getting to the vicinity was easy.
I got a bit frustrated with using this setup (VITO Navigator in particular), but I was hooked on geocaching so I bought a Garmin Etrex Legend C.
I've since decided to give my Axim another shot so I could have 2 GPS units running at once and have tried it with BeelineGPS. Without a doubt it's 100% better than VITO Navigator!

Move along. There's nothing to read here.
My wife looked at me funny when I mentioned it so I guess I will do it alone for now.
Mine did too but after her first time out she loved it and now has some of her friends doing it too... nothing like doing it with my wife and a couple of her friends!
