Ok I know of a few of the AximSite members that are into Geocaching but, I am curious to see just how many we have here. Please let us know if you do and include your Geocaching name.
My Geocaching name is the same as my AximSite name: USMC - Retired
I use both my Axim with a bluetooth Delorme Earthmate and a Garmin GPS III (my wife and I cache as a team).

I will be starting my geocaching adventures very shortly. I've known about it for several years and have helped hide a geocache, so it's time I actually start looking for them. Once my BT GPS comes in next week, it will be time for fun. :) My geocache name is the same as it is here: stanswx.
I also Geocache under the name ekanow,(at geocaching.com). For hardware I use my X51 and a BT-338(Globalstat) bluetooth GPSr. For geocaching software I use navigator II or BeeLineGPS. I use GpxSonar to manage the Log or GPX cache files. Any geocachers here from NY?
I also geocache. I go by atascadero on geocaching.com and groundspeak.com forums. My setup is a x51v partnerd with Holux GPSlim236 and memory-map software. Just getting started but I'm afraid I'm already hooked!
Hey ABF, just go to geocaching.com and sign up, all the info you need is there and in the online forum. If you have any specific questions just ask away! You will love it, my wife wasn't sure she would but after her first time she soon had all her friends in on it.

My BT338 is waiting for me at work so I will be able to try caching. I have gone to the website and there are caches not far from my home to start out on. My wife even seems interested too.
Ive a few friends who do it. I am planning on getting a BT gps system eventually, and I was planning on getting OCN5.
However, I see in the forums on OCN5's site that thet particular program may not be good for geocaching.Apparently OCN5, according to thier site, is good for only in car navigation? I take it its because its mainly oriented to roads, and a lot of times geocaching isnt anywhere near a road?
What are your general opinions on this, as I guess I'd need to rethink my software choices if this is so. OCN5, esp w/the new update coming out at the end of March, seemed to be the best choice for me as far as in-car navigation, and travel. But I would like an all in one solution, if possible. :approve:
As long as it will tell you your longitude and latitude any of the in car nav programs will work for geocaching. My Pharos Ostia is agreat nav program in my opinion, more accurate than most of the others,it takes heat from some that say it's not user friendly but I think it just takes a little more user effort to get to know the program, once you do everythings easy. it also allows you to see your longitude and latitude for geocaching, but, I am considering purchasing BeeLineGPS for geocaching due to some neat features it has.

We started last summer as the Steel City Seekers. It's great because you mention taking a walk to the kids and meet with hostile attitudes, but you tell them that you're going treasure hunting and they're all for it.
I used my Haicom 303III and Mapopolis for quite a while, and then purchased a Magellan handheld to supplement and to let the kids use.
I use a Hiacom 303MMF CF/GPS receiver with an Axim X50 low end (416). I have been using Outdoor Navigator as the mapping software on the Axim. Apparently, Outdoor Navigator is no longer available for sale. This is unfortunate, as it was realiable, cheap and user friendly.

Gotcha, thanks USMC - Retired. Good thing I have a bit of time to really look into this GPS stuff... everywhere I turn theres more to learn!
I suppose any with lat-long. capabilities would be ok to use on the lake, too? Be cool to mark the fishing hotspots... if I ever find them! What a great all-around device this Axim is getting to be! :approve:
Gotta love geocaching!!! I'm a part of a Geocaching Team called the GeekoCachers. I rely on my Explorist 600 for field nav and GPXSonar for data. In the car I use my Axim x50v(with BT-338) and iGuidance to get me to the caches. Geeks and their toys!!!
I've been geocaching here in New England, and some in Steelers country, for about a year and love it. I use an Etrex Legend in the field and my friend's Garmen Que to get us there. (or sometimes an actual map). Are there any inexpensive PDA/geocache solutions that let you navigate and keep records of caches? I have a new Axim and no way is it going into the woods. But I do hope to get it hooked up to a GPS which is why I read this forum so much! Happy caching everyone, bobolinx
