Since A06 not able to connect to BT GPS with generic software

Hello people,

since I upgraded my x51v to A06 (from A04), I am unable to make my Fortuna BT GPS work with generic GPS software (like NMEAMon, www.catnet.ne.jp/fukuda/garmap/e_garmap.html) or VisualGPSce. This are simple applications where there is no configuration menu in order to specify the GPS port explicitly.

During A04 I would select COM8, both for Hardware and Applications Port if my memory serves my well, from Dell Settings->GPS settings, and I would be able to run NMEAMon just fine. Now, GPS Settings will not let me select the same port twice, and I have tried dozens of combinations.

I am nevertheless able to connect with Destinator PN, software where you specify the BT GPS port from its configuration.

Did you have similar findings? Any solutions? Is this a bug? Are you aware of any more modern NMEA logger that might work with the a06 eccentricities?

THank you and have a good evening!
Ari.

The crippled Microsoft Bluetooth stack is a very big bug in itself. Sounds like you need GPSGate with your com port problems.
