TomTom Nav 5 w/x51v - Route Planning

Hi all,

First I would like to thank the numerous people who I've IMed to asked a number of questions prior to purchasing TomTom Nav 5. I received my copy today with the OnCourse BT-339 GPS receiver and everything works great.

Loading the software/maps and setting it up was pretty simple. I do have a question about TomTom Nav 5 when I'm planning a route.

I'm attempting to plan a route when the GPS receiver is not connected (I don't get signal in my home) and when I enter my destination address it goes to a screen where it's waiting for a GPS signal. Is there a way to disable this so I can just plan the route? I did not think that TT has to detect a GPS signal prior to planning the route.

Appreciate any feedback.

Use the Advanced planning tool. It allows you to input a start and finish. The Navigate to tool can't plan a route because it doesn't know the start point without a gps signal.
