Question X30 gpsdash2 deluo ???

Hi guys,

Hopefully someone is carrying around a magic wand tonite. I recieved my Deluo Pro "mouse" gps unit, it is the hardwired unit not the bluetooth. I've been to the gpsdash website, followed their instructions implicitly and whenever I try to "connect" my friggin bluetooth kicks on and I believe blocks the receiver. The funny thing is that I have no BT connections set up on my x30. I can't seem to keep it from kicking on everytime I try to connect. I have done the following:

installed gpsdash2
set the gps according to the "verified" settings on the gpsdash website for my x30 (com7, baud 9600, sirf set)
tried the auto detect (bt kicks in)
tried the direct connect (bt kicks in)
pulled large amounts of my hair out (bt kicks in)

any info, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
SumEd

Hmm X30 Deluo GPS probs

Hi,

Hope someone has an idea for me because I don't have a clue. I received my Deluo Pro GPS receiver today, its a "wired" version with adapter for my X30 not a bluetooth. Anyway, I've set com to 7 baud to 9600, and chip to Sirfstar.... whenever I try to connect...my BT kicks in looking for a connection! I don't even have any BT profiles set up, and I've attempted to completely disable the BT so that it will ignore the connection attempt by my software... (gpsdash2)

Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks -Ed

Threads merged. Please don't double post.

Use COM1, not COM7 for wired serial GPS units. Also, use NMEA, not Sirf.

Sorry about the double post, my first time posting and I wasn't sure which thread it should be in. I've read the gps 101 and 201 info pages, also in gpsdash2 the Sirf choice is under the "chip" heading, and NMEA is the default, and only choice under its respective place in the gps setup page. I tried the com1 and bluetooth doesn't kick in then, but I never get a gps lock either, the led just flashes red...i've tried setting the chip choice to unknown, doesn't help, I've tried autodetect on com1 but bluetooth kicks in again... hmmmm, curious....
Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate the help.

Only one application can use the COM port at a time, to make sure you aren't being blocked by something, follow this set of steps:

0. Go outside. GPS doesn't work indoors very well, even in a window/door. Go where you have a clear view of the sky.
1. Soft reset.
2. On GPSDash 2, tap GPS, then set COM1, 4800, unknown and NMEA.
3. Tap OK
4. Tap GPS
5. Tap OK
6. Wait (first fix can take 10-20 minutes. Don't move, it makes it longer.

The satellites will first appear in the "radar" screen all at due north, then they will spread out once the ephemeris and almanac data arrives and is processed. Eventually they'll change color as they are being used in the calculations and finally you'll get a fix and valid data will flow.

If it still doesn't work, repeat the steps but between 3 and 4 start a log and then after you exit GPSDash, use notepad to look at the log to see if you are getting data at all. You should see sentences like those in the GPS201 article. If not, then either the receiver is bad, or it may be in Sirf mode.
