SE Asia Maps for X50 GPS

Can anyone recommend an expansion slot GPS you can use with the X50 that has international maps? In particular I need a GPS system that can get me around Singapore, Jakarta Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The software (maps) is not built into a GPS.
You have to buy it separately.

The best for use with X50 is a bluetooth GPS (avoid CF or SD).

For software/maps see: http://www.mapasia.com

I use routable maps (free) from www.malsingmaps.com. These maps are Garmin based. Using GarminQue, I can route from most anywhere in KL to Singapore. The Singapore and Malaysian maps are detailed and put together by GPS enthusiasts.

Also, you can check out this place ... http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/

Thank you for the links on the maps. I understand that the maps are seperate from the GPS unit, but can you download the maps your referenced at malsingmaps.com to any GPS for the X50 or do they only work with Garmin GPS systems? Will it work with a Pharos GPS?

These maps which I referenced above, work with GarminQue software. GarminQue s/w for the PPC can be downloaded and installed on any PPC running WM2003SE or WM5, and should be able to be used with any GPS as long as you use it with GPSProxy. If you intend to use GarminQue with unlocked maps (i.e. CitySelect etc.), you need a legitimate and valid Garmin unitID.

I also downloaded maps from MalSingMaps.com recently. (Thanks again, lawman! :approve: ) The instructions on that site are very easy to understand. Just don't ask how to get voice prompt guidance on that site if you don't have MapSource... I also downloaded Garmin World basemap from Garmin Que3600 link. It's kind of cool that both set of maps can work together seamlessly!

BTW I use iGuidance in the US, and got Garmin Que for Malaysia maps. My GPS is GlobalSat.
