Worried X51v Bluetooth GPS map view troubles

I have finally (thanks to everyone on this site!!! and NO THANKS to Dell Customer (Lack of) Support) figured out how to access and enjoy the GPS that's on my Axim.

However, one final glitch remains and I was hoping that someone here would have the answer.

When I'm driving, my the GPS display keeps switching to a 20km view. This is hard to follow, especially during city rides. I then manually take it to 150m (where I would want it to be on most trips) and it stays there for about a few minutes and then it switches back to the 20km view. I've tried resetting route display options, the Axim is not working on a power-save mode and I am really at a loss as to what to do.

If anyone has any ideas or experiences with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Thank you!!!

What software are u using?

If it is TOMTOM then I am unaware of any way to change this "feature." Its called autozoom and what it does is change zoom level auomatically depending on your speed and if a turn is coming up.

Sorry, but rest assured you are not alone!

Gps woes continue

I am using whatever software came on the Dell GPS Navigation system CD (I think the maps are by Navtec). When you navigate there is choice between 50m and 20km, and it's usually possible to choose your zoom level, but, for some reason, it started to automatically switch back to 20km hm.......

Thank you for your post, though, this site has been a real help!

hi i had similar problem but in opposite direction , ie. it would zoom to 50m range i realized that what was happening is that the dell axim holder would make contact with the d pad and change the zoom setting. now ihave the ax in sena case then into the holder, doesn't happen anymore. Hope it helped.

This is a really good thought, it sounds like I have the same setup with Dell Navtec GPS and Dell holder and I have noticed that if I push the Axim into the holder too firmly that it operates the hardware buttons and results in very odd effects.

Ok, let me try it and I'll get back to you... although I don't know how to prevent the case from touching the axim (the regular non-bluetooth GPS had a better case, it was a hard plastic case...). Any other ideas?
