okay so i bought the i.trek m3 and tomtom 5 (with the latest patch for WM5)... all I can say is, AWESOME. tomtom and the M3 work great with the x51v. Plus the M3 came with a free download of GPSgate (franson.com) which I highly recommend.

GPS gate allows you to run multiple GPS programs at the same time, from a single reciever. i can run GPSinfo and/or visualGPSce at the same time, plus I can jump on virtual earth moble and grab a quick arial photo via gps.

just a note: to make everything run smoothly, i had to point the native WM5 GPS to a port other than the one i was using on bluetooth. Aparently if you try to match this port to the GPS it causes problems. i.e. i have the bluetooth on COM7 and the WM5 GPS setting on COM8. (basically anything other than the port you are acutally using will work)

Once I found the right setup, everything worked perfectly. If anyone has any specific questions about my setup, don't hesitate to ask.

5.21? Yes I do if that's what you mean. Still no go... :( Any ideas?

My CF GPS is on COM4. What should I set TomTom to?

Knumb...

I think you might want to try the WM5 GPS utility to experiment with COM Ports and baud settings, but you might want to try COM1... I think I was able to get the SDIO GPS working once in a while using COM1. COM4 was another that worked on occassion. You also might want to do a soft reset before putting the card in the CF slot, and do that everytime you change a variable.

Anyway... if you get the right combo working in the utility, that is... the sats show up and you get a fix, then worry about getting TT paired up. But you've read all the garbage I went through, and now with the BT all seems OK.

I do wish you luck. Sooner or later TT will support WM5 and CF/SD GPS devices. But right now, you are going to have to mess around a whole lot.

My TomTom works like a charm with my Axim x51v and the TomTom Bluetooth GPS Mouse. Installation was extremly easy (Put the card in... off it goes!) Very smooth, never fails. In fact it is the most stable piece of Software on my Axim. If WM5 in general would be as fast as my TomTom I would be happy. I tested Mobile Navigator 5 by Navigon (it is sold in the US too but has a different name there....) and I prefer it because of the speed information... but it is much slower than TomTom which doesnt matter to me, because I have the Axim 624Mhz- My advice: If you have a slower device: Stick with TomTom... it works!

Guys, you are way ahead of me. I can't even get tomtom nav 5.21 to install to my x51v-624 wm5 I got 2 days ago. It installed happily to my aging fujitsu loox ppc2002.

I have run every possible conceivable way to get it to install without success. any ideas?

thanks
