Arkon Car Powered Car Mounts Extended Use Results

Hi

I have read many threads about potential car mounts for my axim X51V and all seem to have very mixed feedback.

:rolling: I think I am narrowing down the search to the Arkon and Seidio powered speaker mounts.

I am leaning towards the Arkon CM720 just because it has the power output and cable for charging my bluetooth GPS reciever, however some threads suggest that the build quality lets it down and after a few months it is U.S.

Has anyone found the newer DM320 to be better build quality?

Anyone using the Seidio models? if so what is the quality like on them and how easy is it to get hold of the cable to charge the bluetooth reciever?

Sorry if these questions are a bit mixed up but I would appreciate the feedback.

Cheers

I've only been using my CM720 for a couple of weeks now, so can't offer any great insight into how it holds up over time. I've been very happy so far though.

I use the Seidio mount and I am quite happy with it. I'm actually planning to buy their unit with the GPS built in soon.

As far as your BT receiver... The Seidio units have a DC output and they sell cables for many BT units for $12.95 each. I believe that they also have a cable that just goes to a USB port for charging any USB device, but I couldn't find it on their website...

I concur with the above. For the DC to USB cable, any DC to USB cable will do. You do not have to get from Seidio for these cables. As long as one end is standard DC and the other connects to whichever GPS unit you have, get whichever is the cheapest.

I am also an owner of the CM720 ....

not too great of a product but they do make great products with some of the other models though ...

my only complaint of the CM720 is the "jaw grip" ... not the greatest of designed ... tend to slipped/popped open once in awhile ... and I have learned not to reacts to it ( I did reacts to it once due to natural reaction when something fall & fear of my X51V being damage ... and almost had a car accident !!! ) :rolling: :rolling:

so now ... whenever the JAW pop ... I just let the wired connection hold on to it and calmly fix it at the next safe moment of time :)
