I Need GPS to work ASAP! iG+x51v+cf Holux
Hi,
I've read for the last 2 days in this area here & cannot get my x51v to work with iGuidance v. 2.1.3 + my compact flash Holux card..
I've tried no com ports, 7, 8 none, automatic management, etc
the card is flashing after it aquires a signal but that's it??
Please help, I need to get this figured out before Saturday.

Does the Holux need a driver update for WM5?

Nono..there is a GPS Information program, GPSInfo.exe, for testing the GPS.
http://www.usglobalsat.com/downloads/GPSInfo_WM5.zip
Try to see if you can get it to work. If it works, then it means it is iG setting. If it doesn't work, then it is windows BT setting. Let's try to narrow down the problem first.

not sure how you would make the CF GPS to work ... but assuming that you are successful at that end.
... there are additional settings required "within" the iGuidance program also ...
you must go into the menu "TOOLS"--->>> "GPS options"--->>> and matched up the COM port ##
.... & the BAUD rate ( optional ... I set mine to 38400 )
I got the GPSlim 236 (also a Holux brand) + iGuidance ... and it is painless to paired up ... I don't think CF type is harder then BT ... it should be even easier ... goodluck !
within iGuidance's "view"--->>> "GPS Info" menu ... when it is working properly ... you should be able to see animated satellites report/signals .

The CF GPS is using baud rate 4800.
Have you tried to use GpsGate? GpsGate manages GPS com port connection a lot better than MS's built-in utility. You can download the trial version from www.franson.com.

I have run the CF GPSs no problem with my x50v and the WM5 utility. (I have used three different CF units on it so far.) What ports are you using for the setup (both hardware and program)? It sounds like you are using 7 and 8, but the hardware port should be something like 4 or 5 for a CF card, I believe.

What model is it?
Have you tried other freeware GPS utilities to see if they detect your GPS unit? On my X50v, the CF card is on COM6 which is recognized as for PCMCIA for some software.

When all else fails, try hardreset your Dell X51v.
There is one time I totally lost Bluetooth connection on my Dell and a hardreset resolves the problem immediately.
