battery change - x51v+bt gps quit working

I have an Axim x51v(WM5), OnCourse BT gps, and iGuidance which I just got this past week. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to set up initially. And it has worked, rock-solid for me all week since I got it. This morning, I changed the battery in my Axim. The next time I tried to use it, I never got a connection.
The GPS is powered on and only inches away.
- I was driving in an area where I've never had trouble getting a signal.
- Looking at the GPS info screen, I see no satellites, nothing.
- So I disabled and re-enabled bluetooth on the axim, still nothing.
- I deleted the association on the axim, and rediscovered the bluetooth gps fine, reset all the connection info (com8, 38600), still nothing.

I am now at a loss. I've redone everything I did to set it up the first time, and it still isn't working. Any ideas? Is there at least a way to tell if I'm failing with the bluetooth connection or if the gps is failing to get a signal?

I appreciate any help you can offer on this, I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow that was the whole purpose for buying it.

Well, I had a breakthrough, though not a very encouraging one. I still can't make it work with the axim at all (though it has been working fine all week). However, I installed iGuidance on my laptop, linked up the bluetooth to the gps, and fired it up. Works like a charm. So I think the bt gps unit is working fine.

Any ideas what could cause bluetooth on the axim to act so funny? I'm running A06 firmware. It was working fine before, and I've even removed the association with the bluetooth device and reinstalled it several times. I've done a soft reset, and even pulled the battery out. Any suggestions?

First question is, can the Axim pair up with the bluetooth GPS? Next would be, what settings do you have it set for: Outgoing/Ingoing, hardpore port, software port, and what port/baud do you have iGuidance set at?

yes, it seems to pair with it fine. I can detect the bluetooth device, enter the default pin (0000), it sets up a com8/38400 baud. These same settings worked just fine before. I've tried clearing them and resetting it up, but nothing I try seems to work.

I also checked many times to make sure iGuidance was set up for com8/38400baud

ARGH! ok, I got it working. It took a lot of messing with it. Some kind of odd problem between iGuidance and the GPS port connector tool in WM5.

Under Settings->gps, it won't let you set the program port and the hardware port to the same thing... oddly though, they were both set for com8.

-I set it for com7 program port, com8 hardware port, went into iGuidance and set it to talk to com7. Still didn't work.

-I went back into the gps tool and it now had the settings: com7 program port and com7 hardware port. Clearly wrong. Fiddled with this for a while. It looks like iGuidance is causing a change in the hardware port. It really shouldn't be modifying that stuff at all, but rather just trying to talk to whatever port I give it.

-Playing with it some more, I set the port for com9 program, com8 hardware. I went into iGuidance and set the port for com9, still didn't work. Reset it for com8. It worked!!! I don't know what finally caused it to hiccup and work, but it is working for now.
