Question FDBK on putting a GPS combo together

HI Guys,

New to the site and I have been reading a bit already on hardware

I have an X30 high on its way and possibly a X50 520 for wife.

I have interest in a GPS solution. Is a bundled GSP better way to go then picking up individual pieces?

So far I have come up with the
1) Arkon CM715 Powered Car Mount $51 US off ebay
(saw a thread a aximsite member gave on this unit and looks to be decent, will review more)

Purpose will be for road navigation mainly, I reside in Canada and am interested in software for NA basically

Thanks if you can take the time to give me feedback or pass on links to hardware you feel is good value for the price.

CK

What model of X30 did you get? Hope it wasn't the X30 low. I may be wrong, but since the X30 low dosent have Bluetooth or a CF card slot, how will you connect GPS antenna to Axim.

I just recently took a trip from Saskatchewan to Phoenix using Holux GPSlim 236 GPS and iGuidance maps. I paid $90CAN for GPS receiver off ebay from a seller in Ontario and another $125CAN for iGuidance from here . This combo served me well.

Oh yeah, might not hurt to get external memory to store maps on. I think the map that I created, which included SK, MN, WY, CO, NM & AZ was around 10meg.

Okay, while I'm at it. Make sure you have external 12v power supplies to operate Ax and GPS on. I get about 10 hours constant use of GPS and only a couple of hours on Ax.

Thanks for the feedback, I have an external 1GB SD card already, I have an external 12v powersupply already as well. Looks like this could be relatively cheap so to speak to complete a GPS setup. Willl do some reading and come back with some questions
