Walking Directions

I'm taking a trip to Amsterdam and Nantes, France next month. While in both citites I will be doing a lot of walking. Using public transportation (trams, metro, buses), etc...

I have narrowed my choice of gps software down to iGuidance. Will this software be effective at leading me (walking and using public transportation, that is) from my hotel to various places around the cities mentioned above? I will be using my Axim x50 and the BT-339 as my hardware.

And advice and/or recommendations would be appreicated. Thanks in advance!

I am not sure about iGuidance, but OCN5 has a pedestrian mode that will send you the wrong way on a one-way streets. My son lives near Washington DC. I take it with us when we take the METRO into DC. When we are ready to go, I fire it up and find the closest METRO stop and the quickest way to get there. Keep in mind that GPS and OCN5/iGuidance are useless once you go underground. Oh and one more trick. I also have Memory-Map Navigator. Just before I leave the car, I fire it up and mark the location I parked in. OCN5 (and most likely iGuidance also) did not have the parking lot for the new METRO stop near my son in the map datbase yet. Both OCN5 and iGuidance will try and snap you to the closest road. That is when Memory-Map Navigator shines. It may just show you being in a field, but it will get you within 5 to 20 feet of the car with out fail.

I took a quick look through iGuitance help just now and didn't see any obvious means of selecting anything other than car. That isn't definitive but that's what I (don't) see. I was curious about using it for a bike.
