recommendation needed: BT338 or OnCourse SiRF Star III for x51v
I have a dell Axim x51v, and want to buy a BT GPS receiver. Have read some posts here, but still don't know which one to go: OnCourse SiRF Star III Bluetooth GPS Receiver or GlobalSat BT-338 Bluetooth GPS Receiver. Is there any difference between this two?
OnCourse SiRF Star III at buygpsnow.com comes with a Y-charger, which I like. But looks like more people use BT338.
Any suggestion will help. Thanks a lot!

They are the same unit, just rebranded.

I have the BT338 and love it. Never tried the OnCourse device.

I've got the i.Trek M3, which is the same unit, rebranded, and I love it. It works flawlessly with the x51v.

not sure what the "EXCLUSIVE Y-split car charger valued at $19.95 - strong enough to charge your PDA and GPS Simultaneously." is but it sounds like the charger that I got (came included with the 338)

IIRC, I think what had happened was that the Y-cable had been originally included with the 338, but Globalsat stopped doing that. People who wanted it had to pay extra. Buygpsnow later introduced the 339 bundle that included the charger.

Ah OK thanks Gigi. Mine was included (in the box of my 338) purchased a month ago, from buygpsnow. Not sure if this means it is now generally included again or what .... maybe I paid "extra" for the adaptor without realising it ...

edit: mind you I just finally found a picture of what I think you call the "Y" cable on buygpsnow site. I think I've misunderstood as this looks very similar to mine but not exact. My "Y" cable is a generic charger that will allow charging of both PDA and GPS with 2 standard round plugs in a "Y" arrangement (like what plugs into the dell adaptor you get with a new PDA). Sorry all if caused confusion !!

I got the OnCourse SiRF III gps unit from buygpsnow.com. It came with the CAR CHARGER and the Y power cable so I could power both units at the same time. Its great when your on long trips or out all day like I am (I service network and phone systems for companies all over, so i'm on the road most of the day).

I just hacked the x51v's bluetooth to the Widcomm drivers and the Oncourse GPS works flawlessly. I know some people switching over found some gps units giving them trouble.
