TomTom 5.2x incompatible with X51v + Holux CF GPS devices ?

In the past have been using an Axim X5 (WM 2003) with TomTom 5.210 and the Holux GR-270 and more recently GR-271 CF GPS devices without any problems. The GPS driver version is 1.20.

I have now purchased an Axim X51v (WM5) and the same TomTom version no longer works with either of the two CF GPS devices (the devices simply do not get recognized). GPSinfo on the other hand works perfectly with both and performs a position fix remarkably fast.

It definately seems to be a TomTom problem but i'm not having any luck with the support. Has anyone managed to get this combination working or has any tips ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an X51v with TomTom 5.21 and a Holux GR236 which is a Bluetooth receiver. For the software the bluetooth receiver appears to be connected to a serial port. This works very well. I first installed the GPS-Viewer software that came with the Holux and confirmed that it worked. Then when I installed the TomTom it found the GPS without any extra settings. I think TomTom likes best receivers it can find on a serial port. Does the driver for the 270 and 271 CF receivers simulate a serial port?
Maybe there is a setting that lets you do this?

So your GPS receiver worked with TT3 but not TT5 correct?

Try taking the gps.cab file from your TT3 CD and put on your SD card or whatever and install it. Worth a try.

Many Thanks for the suggestions. I am not aware of any special drivers for the GM-270 or GR-271 cards. GPSInfo finds he device is found on COM4:

Under Windows Mobile 2003 on an Axim X5 the combination GM-270 or GR-271 with TT5.21 works perfectly under Windows Mobile 5.0 on an Axim X51v it does not.

The problem was solved by the installation of TT5Bot and Elserial.dll. There are already numerous posts on these two "hacks" it was just a case of finding them

Just for the record here's the "official" answer I got to this issue

"The Axim x51v is not listed as being compatible with navigator 5."

Great !

Have you tried Dell X51v patch for BC-337 from GlobalSat? It might resolve the problem.

I personally "googled" for them and found them that way but I am sure you can find them by searching in the forum.
