Pocket Streets 2006 loads 44K map, but not 400K map

Hello;

I know Pocket Streets is disliked by a number of folks, and I am beginning to see why. I have a Axim X5, which has 32MB RAM and 32 MB ROM. The SD slot has a 512 MB card, (which has the Pocket Streets maps) and the CF slot has the GPS.

I have two maps on the SD card, one that is 44K in size, and one that is 400K in size, which is my current county of residence. I can get the smaller map to load, but whenever I try to load the larger map, I get the spinning ball of perdition, and nothing else happens, even if I leave the GPS on all night. It just doesn't load.

Any thoughts on how I can get the larger map to work with Pocket Streets?

This is odd. I load maps that are 4MB's just fine on my x51v. Perhaps you can try exporting the map again?

I load maps that are up to 5mb, so that shouldn't be a problem. Do this, koelpien, go in "My Pda" and find my review of MS Streets and Trips. I think I have directions on how to load maps onto your pda. See if you're doing it correctly. If that doesn't work, post back and we'll see if we can give you more help. BTW welcome to aximsite.

I simply copied them directly off my laptop on to a SD card.

Maybe the map is corrupted?

Well, the X5 has 32 MB RAM and 32 MB ROM, and the X51V has 64 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM, so my X5 isn't as powerful. I will try a few different maps. Apparantly my problem isn't one of those that is too widespread, as others using the program don't seem to have issues with loading maps. More experimentation...

You should load maps onto a flash card like sd or cf, so the ram and rom shouldn't be an issue.
