A while back ago a thread was started discussing the replacement of the iGuidance voice files with alternate file. Since the thread is almost a year old the links no longer work.

So, my question is, is it possible to replace the default iGuidance voice files with others?

Also, my wife and kids if it is possible to replace the default voice with a character voice, such as Napolean Dynomite, Daffy Duck, etc. They think it would be funny. What do you think?

Anyone's input would be much appreciated.

You might want to try the links again...I just did and got the file to download.

It's possible...all you need to do is create new wave files for all the ones supplied by iGuidance. This is no small task, especially if you want character voices. Interestingly enough, there is a website in Germany that supplies character voices for Navigon's MobileNavigator for purchase(I believe there is a Yoda one). I haven't seen anything out there for iGuidance though, and a quick Google search didn't turn up anything terribly promising.

I used the voice generator in the original thread and created voice files for Rich. You can download it here It only took me about an hour to put all the files together. I tried it on my x51v and it seems to work good. Some of the phrases sound more natural than others. Let me know if you find any mistakes.
