Hi guys.

Looking for a good (but not too expensive GPS software I can use for my 2 weeks in France this summer.

I guidance was my first choice but the European version is discontinued.

Now thinking of Destinator.

How stable and good is it when run under WM5 (with the patch of course) and the X51v?

Is this worth the $125US or so?

Is it a pain to install and to use?

I'm curious to know about Destinator too - does anyone actually use this software?! I can't find a recent review for it at all, although I'm still thinking of getting it.

I use it every day.....well I should say night. I drive for a living and I don't recall it ever letting me down. I use the US version. But, I also have the European disc. I know it does support several different languages.
Ease of use... all I had to do was install the desktop console....insert the proper disc and pick out my maps that I wanted to store on my SD card, and hit the button. You can even customize your maps.
Lets say you wanted to drive to Munich....you can plan your route....and make a custom map that is 30km wide all along your route. Saving lots of storage space. I guess you can tell....... I really like it. If you don't already have a GPS..... I really love my Rikaline 6033 Bluetooth unit too.

Oh....but I do make all my map transfers usin my card reader because of the slow transfer speed of ActivSync.

I think I'll order it in the next week or so (there's an option for users of other GPS software to get a UK£30 discount), especially as I believe it comes with the full-coverage maps of Ireland.

Well, I can say one thing: they have fast support!!! I emailed them to ask about the maps just 10 minutes ago and got a reply: v6 has the Q1/2006 maps :)

Is it PN (5) or 6? The only thing to consider is the lack of VGA support with version 5.It has been solved with version 6 I think.

Just to add, I use Destinator PN (Australia) with an On Course BT339 receiver and it works great. I ahve loaded on the WM5 patch without issue. Found the whole program very easy to instally, easy to use, and I also have found customer support to be very very effecient.

I had no choice in which software to use becuase of restrictions in Australia maps, but Destinator has come to the party and has not let me down yet. Good stuff indeed!
