For what it's worth I wouldn't go with an all in one mount b/c if you get a different pda or something happens to the gps you're screwed. I have a Seidio and the sound does not work thru the speaker, so I cannot recommend it. I've heard others say both good and bad things about both brands. Good luck with your purchase.

Hi,

I use the cm720 1 to 2 hours a day w/o any problems either. Dunno about the Seidio, but the akron has a free usb powering port, I use it to charge my bt gps when needed...

It seems that just a new cable is needed if you change of pda

I Have the Seidio G4850 and so far I am extremely happy with it. The axim fits snugly into the cradle; you can have it in landscape mode, or normal mode. The speaker is loud and crisp. There is an extra DC out on the cradle to charge a BT device…or power a radar detector. The GPS unit is VERY fast and works excellent with both Tom Tom, and iGuidance. The suction cup is very firm and seems to hold the unit in place very well. My next step is to find a wifi external HD with a power inverter and turn this setup into a carputer.

I have G4850 also.

The only complaint I have is when using Mapopolis. The interface is WM5 standard so clicking OK is hard in moving vehical with removing it from the mount, which then it looses the GPS and will sometime want to reset the Axim.

Then again you should not be playing with Axim and GPS while driving ;-)

Oh man, Seidio G4500S, HANDS DOWN.

I've had all of the Arkon models and hated all of them. They're absolute hazards on the road (falling off, shitty Axim holding, etc).

Get a BT-338 or newer model with SiRF III bluetooth GPS. DO NOT get the built in one, since you'll be limited to one PDA!@

Hi,

I have an Akron. I got one without a GPS. It has a port to plug in blue tooth GPS, one usb port and I haven't had any problems.

I use an Arkon CM720 powered mount with a BT338 GPS, and have had no problems with it thus far. Seems to be very well made compared to a cheap $10 mount I bought which broke within a few weeks. The X50v hasn't looked like falling off (yet). Haven't had to use the inbuilt speaker, since the speaker on the X50v running TomTom is very loud and clear to me already.

The Seido looks nice, but is more expensive. I don't think any car mount lasts very long with constant use, so I couldn't justify spending too much on one. For this reason, I wouldn't get a combined GPS/mount. The BT338's battery life is really good, and the CM720 includes a charging bluetooth GPS cable also.

Ok - some are given postive responces for a given mount, some negtive.

Now the question, Are you going to place your Axim in a case??

If yes, then SEIDIO is out, becuase it is form fitting.

I just got my G4500, look very well built, cleaner look, not so much wires to deal with n d sound is loud n clear. only 10-15.00 bucks more than the arkon 720, but it is pda specific, if you have more than 1 pda arkon is the way to go, and it will not fit with the extended battery. I am happy with it.

May I suggest a Poll on this topic? I don't even know all of the options, but am interested in what others experiences are...
