Question Can't connect to BT-339 bluetooth GPS receiver with x51v

I just purchased a BT-339 bluetooth GPS receiver and I am having difficulty getting everything set up with my x51v. The axim can find the receiver and add it but I cannot get GPS information from it and the receiver does not show that it is connected to a bluetooth device. The baudrate suggested by the receiver is 38400 which is not available as an option on my x51v. Also, GPSinfo, a program that came with the receiver to test it, will not work on my axim and I get an error message every time I open it. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it because I am planning on taking a road trip this weekend and was counting on using the GPS setup. Thank you.

Try removing GPSinfo and starting all over.
Here's how I did it with Holux GPSlim 236 and TomTom. Should be similar:

Quote:
. go to Settings > GPS
set Software and Hardware port to none or 0.
and uncheck "Automatically manage.."
. turn on your receiver
. go to Bluetooth, create new partnership
it will then look for your GPS (took about 10 seconds)
. choose the Holux
it may ask you for passkey = 0000
. it will ask if you want to use serial or something ... choose it
. then go create New outgoing port
and I chose port 7.
. open up your nav software and configure the it to be port 7
also, when you turn on your GPS, make sure you have a view of the sky and don't move it for a minute so it can get a signal, then turn on your software

I have the same setup, and mine works fine, including GPSInfo.

Here are some instructions for setting up a BT-338/9 I found in this thread:

Quote:
From a soft reset (i.e. BT off, no devices or Comports set)

Turn the GPS on – GPS goes into discover mode. (The Axim finds the BT GPS even without this - yours may not)

In the Axim’s, Bluetooth Settings:
/Mode - enable BT and allow discovery

/Devices - search for New Partnership
> should find BT GPS (or similar) - select it and click Next
> enter passkey (usually 0000) – click next
> should find a serial port service - do not tick the box , click Finish

/COM ports
select New OUTGOING port - it should list the BT GPS – select it and click next

Choose a comport (I used COM7) and unchecked secure connection (not sure what difference this makes)

COM ports now lists BT GPS (COM7)

Start TomTom (select other Bluetooth GPS device and select COM7)

or other GPS application. (i.e. GPSinfo – select COM7)
